What our customers have to say.
I had 2 sample packs of your Xtracal Plus and the physician thought it was worth a try. The nurse was really worried that it would clog the feeding tube, but when we mixed it with some water it completely dissolved. We bolused it down the patient’s peg tube – once in the morning and in the afternoon – he tolerated it well – no regurgitation or diarrhea. We ordered 2 cases of Xtracal Plus and he has been on it now for 3 weeks. After about 10 days we were able to increase his tube feeding enough to meet 100% of his needs with the tube feeding and 2 packs of XtrcaI Plus. I started 2 other patients on it for similar volume related problems.
We recently got a young brain injury patient who could not tolerate an adequate amount of tube feeding – we tried several different types of formulas, different rates through a pump at different times, bolus feedings and different medications to promote gastric emptying – no matter what we did, he would always regurgitate his feeding after about 500 mls over a 24 hour period. The physician asked me if there was anything else we could do before sending the patient out to get a central line placed for TPN.
I work with post trauma patients, most of whom are tube fed. I saw your Xtracal Plus product at the dietetics conference in Maryland. I liked the fact that most of the calories come from MCT oil, but I really didn’t think that I would ever need such a product.
I love your Xtracal plus – I’ve finally found a gluten free supplement that I can actually tolerate.
We’re using Xtracal Plus in our Food First program. What a great product – it pretty much mixes with anything so we can add it to what we know the resident will eat!
My mom has a colostomy and most supplements seem to go right through her. Your xtracal plus has been great and she’s been able to start gaining weight – thanks!
We have used XtraCal Plus more and more. It is very sweet and thick, but mixes well in other supplements. The nursing staff have been great at finding different concoctions, such as mixing XtraCal Plus with ice cream or a magic cup AND a mighty shake. Sometimes they add it to the MedPass 2.0, but both are very thick. No matter what, most residents take these supplements well when they are super cold!
